I was investigating this subject for my own amusement, but then I thought it could be a nice way to finance prizes for participants, or even be a prize to who ever participates in the competition with a game. The idea, is to make a collection or album of tapes, with inlays and an actual tape and plastic box. There were at least 3 types of cassete inlays, [J-Card], [U-Card] and [O-Card]. Here is a good explanation of standard audio tape templates/inlays. nationalaudiocompany.com/J-Card-Design-Templates.aspxWe could use typical [J-Card] inlays, and plastic box, for each game. Cassettes are still being produced. nationalaudiocompany.com/And there is quite a selection of colors and a few plastic box options. nactape.com/anablog/cassette-order-instructions/cassette-shell-color-selectionnationalaudiocompany.com/Cassette-Boxes-C15.aspxWhat do you guys think about this ? NOTE: There is also an option of Album boxes or "books", but that will be less flexible, because people can participate at any time, hence altering the number of items, and we would loose the inlay per game and would be limited to a cassette sticker at best. nationalaudiocompany.com/Cassette-Albums-C17.aspx

I do like the idea of a physical release of the games but it might be more economical to put all of the games on the same tape as a sort of compilation with a brief description and playing instructions for each on the cassette inlay. That may or may not work, depending on the loading time of each game and the amount of games submitted to the compo. It would probably have to be limited to the winning games.

Hey Rui and PROSM! Actually, one of the prizes for the winner is the possibility of releasing the game in real cassette, for what I will do the negotiation with the producer. It is now mandatory, but the winner can decide if he wants to do it or not (I strongly recommend it!) zx-dev-2015.proboards.com/thread/12/cassette-release-winner-edicion-ganadorIs that what you were talking about?

Yes, something like that, but I was suggesting a broader target, i.e. to include all competing games, to make the ZX-DEV 2015 Collection.
Can you elaborate/clarify, on what is implied/included in "releasing the game in real cassette" ?

Can you elaborate/clarify, on what is implied/included in "releasing the game in real cassette" ? We could include a cassette reléase with all the games, but that would be a Little bit more complicated, as all the authors would have to agree with that, and I am not sure that would be the case. Actually, in the rules, it is stated that the winner can decide if his game is released in cassette or not. But I would open this possibility for any of the contestants I would do all the job of being the link between the authors and the producer of the cassette When the author/s decide they want to do it, we can then speak about more details, but you guys can ask me more if you want to know

I want to know more Details please. Curiosity killed the cat! The idea would be to use the service of a wll known producer of phisycal editions for ZX and MSX games, called MATRA. He produces the cassettes with the games and sells them, usually at the Price of 8,75€. Obviously, the autor would receive a part of that money when each game is sold. It doesnt make you reach, but at least you get the satisfaction of seeing your game in a cassette reléase with very goo quality, and get some spare money to have a dinner with the wife

If I'm not mistaken that will imply some form of "licensing" or "authorization" from authors to allow producer to replicate and sell the stuff. Isn't it simpler to just produce a batch and pay the costs to the producer, without any legal bindings ? Are there any advantages ? How is the distribution done ? Where do people know about applications/games ? Are there others before us ? NOTE: This is starting to become a little off-topic in terms of this contest, sorry about that

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Alx, most likely they will be individual releases of each game, but lets wait and see what this brings

How about inviting S.T.A.R. into this forum ?
It should be simpler to have all questions and answers in one place.

I invited S.T.A.R. into the fórums but he told me he had problems with registering. Anyways, I will summarise what he told me He will produce cassettes with anybody who wants to have his game in physical edition, with these important points to be known: [] The autor does not have to pay anything at all/El autor no pone ni un duro. [] The author will give me the WAV or TAP/TZX and I will manufacture 25 units + 1 for the autor himself. They may be numbered if the autor wishes so./Me pasan el WAV o TAP/TZX y manufacturo 25 unidades + 1 para el autor. Si quiere las numero. [] I will take care of the design/Me encargo de la maquetación y diseños. [] I will sell them at 8,75€, and the 20% of it, 1,75 is for the autor/Las distribuyo a 8,75 euros y el 20%, 1,75 euros, es para los autores. [] In the case that more units are produced, the deal will still be the same/Si se manufacturan más cintas una vez vendidas las 25 sigue el mismo trato, no paga y le sigo pagando royalties. In case of doubts, please let me know
